    Classification of air springs


    Air spring can be divided into three types according to the type of air bag structure, membrane type and compound type.

The effective area change rate of air spring is large, and the spring stiffness is high, so it is usually adopted to increase the auxiliary air chamber to reduce the spring stiffness.     2) the effective area change rate of the membrane air spring is smaller than that of the capsule type, so the lower spring stiffness can be obtained without the auxiliary air chamber. By changing the shape and size of the piston to control the effective area change rate, it can get more ideal elastic characteristic curve of S shape. But the capsule type air spring is hard to do. In addition, from the spring seal form, diaphragm type air spring can be used for pressure sealing, simple structure, low cost. Membrane air spring service life is generally not as long as the capsule, the current car use more or film type air spring.
    3) from the structure, the composite air spring is a type of the former two, which combines the advantages of these two kinds of air springs, with a low spring stiffness, but the manufacturing process is complex. [2]
